چکیده

Abstract Limitations of the operation down-flow sand filters were investigated without and with dosages methanol, ethanol, or acetate for denitrification ferrous sulphate to remove phosphorous. The dynamic head loss was developed due clogging by suspended solids (SS) that originated from secondary sedimentation tanks including sludge overflow SS in primary settled wastewater bypassed biological step. also gas bubbles formed during denitrification, not produced cell growth. after 24 h increased 0.9–1.3 2.3–2.4 mH2O, respectively. total time prolonged 50% one water bumping, 75% two bumpings, 85% six seven bumpings. Operational filter cycles 4–5 bumping full-scale pilot-scale filters. depended on hydraulic loading. With a carbon source dosage, cycle lasted 20–40 at 10 m/h 60 5 filters, 15–27 3.3

Enhanced Sand Filtration for Storm Water Phosphorus Removal

Of utmost concern in storm water treatment today is the removal of dissolved phosphorus. One method to effectively determine the phosphorus removal capacity of different sand filtration media is controlled, well mixed experiments called batch studies. Batch studies with an initial phosphorus concentration typical of storm water were conducted at the University of Minnesota on C 33 sand, calcare...

Involvement of Rhodocyclus-related organisms in phosphorus removal in full-scale wastewater treatment plants.

The participation of organisms related to Rhodocyclus in full-scale enhanced biological phosphorus removal (EBPR) was investigated. By using fluorescent in situ hybridization techniques, the communities of Rhodocyclus-related organisms in two full-scale wastewater treatment plants were estimated to represent between 13 and 18% of the total bacterial population. However, the fractions of these c...

Nitrogen Removal from Milking Center Wastewater via Simultaneous Nitrification and Denitrification Using a Biofilm Filtration Reactor

Milking center wastewater (MCW) has a relatively low ratio of carbon to nitrogen (C/N ratio), which should be separately managed from livestock manure due to the negative impacts of manure nutrients and harmful effects on down-stream in the livestock manure process with respect to the microbial growth. Simultaneous nitrification and denitrification (SND) is linked to inhibition of the second ni...

Simultaneous removal of nitrogen and phosphorus from wastewater by means of FeS-based autotrophic denitrification.

The efficacy of iron(II) sulfide (FeS)-based autotrophic denitrification in simultaneous nitrogen and phosphorus removal from wastewater was studied with batch experiments. It was efficient at a wide pH range of 5-9, and temperature range of 10-40 °C. The concentrations of NH₄⁺-N, Mg²⁺ and HCO₃⁻ in the wastewater should be kept over 7.8, 0.24 and 30 mg L⁻¹ for efficient nitrate (NO₃⁻-N) reducti...
